Just off of the highway on the Halifax side of Windsor is this little down home restaurant. Thinking back, I first ate here in 1976! It still pleases me.
There is an assortment of table sizes from parties of two up to family. They are usually filled at lunch time with the locals, but there always seems to be room for one more.
The food is your typical Nova Scotia assortment, including my favourite fishcakes. Although there is nothing overly fancy about the dishes, I have never been disappointed in any of the meal that I have tried.
So if you are tired of the standard highway side meal joints, take a few minutes to stop and smell the roses by taking a detour to the Crossroads. -

Ate breakfast here once, much prefer Walkers down the road closer to town, but farther from home. I'm very much a creature of habit, but had to try this place, as the sign demonstrates really how long it's been around.
This place is massive, but when we were there it was pretty empty. I like that they've tried to give some privacy with white painted garden-style lattice and fake plants. Very much a country diner. The woman working there said she'd been there like 20 years.
It was alright, a little more expensive than Walkers-but still cheap, we just didn't find the quality or portion sizes as good. I might try them out for lunch? -

Had breakfast with my visiting parents here last Tuesday. Nice, convenient location off of the highway. Had good service and the food was alright. I had their country breakfast and my parents both had poached eggs on toast. My parents ordered their eggs soft but the yolks were solid, not really what you are looking for with poached eggs. My only other criticism would be that the breakfast menu is very small. Overall, Crossroads restaurant is not a bad choice for breakfast and I will be back to try the daytime menu.
